COMPASSION AND CAREGIVING

Most of us as Caregivers have a special calling and a sensitive heart with the desire to help others. The myriad of courses available for Caregivers, Nurses, Recovery Coaches, Volunteers, Counselors, and other disciplines all lead to helping others who are in an extreme state. Compassion Fatigue has been defined as a combination of physical, emotional, and spiritual depletion associated with caring for patients in significant emotional pain and physical distress. (Anewalt 2009; Figley 1995). We have all heard the word “Burnout,” but “Compassion Fatigue” is a unique and unforgiving burnout that affects Caregivers in their various roles of caring for others.

COA has put together a course with resources from the greatest authors, world renowned doctors, and associations who have so courageously developed the identifying factors in the disorder of Compassion Fatigue caused by unchecked and untreated symptoms that are not balanced between you and the needs of others. This course will put you in touch with yourself, identify the telltale signs of Compassion Fatigue and give you a means to an end to address a sad and depressed life of untreated fatigue.

This course is a must for volunteers, caregivers, nurses, supervisors and providers who do not engage in a healthy means of self-care and refuse to accept the possibility of having this debilitating syndrome.
